Gary Key Coach, England

DESCRIPTION

Equipment: 3 balls per player, some hoops (or cone boxes). Players: up to 10. Pick 1/3 or 1/4 of the players to be cats, the rest are mice. Procedure: Mice each steal cheese (balls) from the fridge and hide it in any mouse hole (hoops). Cats try to stop the mice by hitting their cheese out of play. Cats can't hit cheese out of the mouse holes or fridge. After losing/hiding their cheese, mice go back for more until none is left. Variations: Cat cave: cats try to hit the stolen cheeses into their cat cave for 1pt each. Mice can't steal cheese out of the cave. If cats "catch" mice by stealing their cheese, they become a cat. Game finishes when only one mouse is left. Vary the no. of cats Vary the no./position of mouse holes (ideally there should be at least 1 more than no. of cats) Mice compete in pairs. Each pair puts all their cheese in 1 hole. Total each pair's points at the end. 1 pt per "cheese". Progression: For up to 8 players. To practice moving the ball (i.e. passing) rather than carrying the ball (i.e. dribbling), change the rules as follows: 5 pieces of cheese (balls) in the fridge, 1 ball in play at a time. Mice need to pass to each other to get it into a hole. 5 attempts, then rotate roles.
