DESCRIPTION

On GO, the group moves towards the cone, pop passing between all players in close proximity. The defender drifts across.

At the cone, the players spread out and attack the line at pace, angling their runs right as they come on to the ball. Drawing the defender, creating space outside.

COACHING POINTS

Communication is vital.

Make pitch wider on the run back as players get better.

Get the ball out wide quickly and score on the far cone.

Angle of run is important to create space

OFTEN USED WITH...

Relays continued:

1) Run out to a cone - round cone back to the team

2) Run out to a different cone but back to your own team.

3) Dribble ball with your feet up to the line - dive on ball - pick up ball and run back.

Passing

Zig Zag Relay:

The player with the ball passes to the next player and follows the direction of the ball using a side step.

The player who receives the ball does the same and so on to the last player who receives the ball and runs around the group to the first cone and restarts the drill.

Passing

Union Jack Eatly:

Two balls, 1 with Player A the other with player E.

On the command Player A passes to B who in turn passes to Player C. At the same time Player E passes F. Once the players have passed the ball they then swap with the opposite player.

Player A swaps with Player E.

Player B swaps with Player F.

Player C with Player G.

Player D with H.

Its important that players only swap once they have passed the ball and only pass it when a player is in position to receive it.
