How to organise a school Olympics day?

A recent survey (see link below) found that some schools were failing to make the most of the Olympic legacy. With this in mind we thought 2013 would be the perfect opportunity for you to run a school Olympics Day.

So, how would you organise a school Olympics days, and more importantly how would you make it different to your standard school sports day - capitalising on the inspirational legacy of 2012's London summer Olympics?
