i coach a power tumbling class. and in the class i get kids from the ages of 6-15 and they are all at different skills levels. usually i set up drill for each of them to do but i feel like they dont get all they could out of i. i mean i usually have 10 kids and it jus gets difficult. is there any other way i could get them to work hard but get through everything fast enough?
In a tumbling class I would pair them up each with the ability to do a drill. The beginners practice cartwheels, pike forward rolls, Handstands. The next group could do round offs with a punch landing, back walk overs to back handsprings. Then the whole class together do strngth training games at end so no one feels lefts out.
I would set up basic stations that they all need to work such as%3A handstands, jump to flat back (back handspring jump), cartwheel or round-off and conditioning/strength work. Then have a station where you are at to work on individualized skills.
i was the the tumbling coach for the trampolining club my kids went to, and it is really hard at times to give all the kids the time they need. this is how i fixed it i would start with a group warm up (which i printed up and put on the wall for differing skill levels) they would play follow the leader starting at forward and backward rolls/to handstand, handstands/forward rolls, cartwheels, roundoffs, to flicks, and saults)then id break them up into smallgroups of similar ability and have them work at different stations, working on strenghth and appropriate development work for the skill they are working on. and have a couple only at a time on the floor working on skills that require you to spot or check or develop. then do a group strength and cool down session. its still not a perfect solution as with most kids, with constant supervision they will not work as hard. so you might need to set targets or goals for them to achieve, or if you can have a parent who is there monitoring (not doing anything but supervising work ethic) to encourage the kids to work harder. good luck.
