I have always thought floor should be an every day event, but my gym wants to rotate apparatus so that there's more time spent on each. which is best?
At my gym, we always spend time on floor first to warm up. If needed then we go back to it again. The lower levels do only basics up through roundoff back handsprings but our optional levels almost always start their practice doing 4 corner tumbling up through their twisting moves. If they need more time on floor they simply come back. Hope this helps!
my team starts warm up on tumble track with basic through tumbling to back or front tucks. then when we rotate to floor they are warmed up and it takes less time. we rotate every 45 mins. so out of 3 days practice we get everything at least 2x and have had the tumble track tumbling.
In my exprience it has always been best to do a group warm up on floor, starting with dynamic stretches and then looking at basic tumbling runs, starting with basic tumbles like forward rolls, moving up in difficulty to the best tumble of your strongest individual at training, but always providing an alternative and ensuring that alternatives are also a variating difficulty. In terms of rotations we look at splitting people into groups that share the same strength and starting them with their weakest apparatus first leaving their strongest apparatus for their last rotation.
Hope this helps
