how to write swimming lesson plan
Hello Sridhar,
To write a lesson plan click the "start session planner"button on the right hand side of the page.
From this page you can add a title, coaching points and other notes to your lesson plans. You can also add drills from Sportplan and even add your own sketches.
Hope this helps,
The Sportplan Team
basically a lesson plan should start with a warm up, then teach whatever skill that you wish to concentrate on for that day, put it into a real use exercise (ie a race) and then a cool down. warm up should be around 15 mins, drills around 20, game/race 20 cool down 5. if you want to add fitness, flexibility or strength work in here too then add another 20-30mins per area.
when writing a lesson plan you need to consider what equipment you have available to you, the amount of space to train in, the number of people you are coaching, the age group, ability, the overall goal of the group, and aim of that days session. make sure your lessons prgress in a sequential order, that no one is standing around doing very little for any amount of time, and that your lesson will stimulate the group to want to participate, and your coaching style. Make sure if you are doing any type of circuit work, that you will have time to set it up before the group get there, so as not to waste their time, and your training session, and that the exercises are easy enough to not need a lot of explaination to perform. it is also good to make sure that there are enough people to help to ensure that the exercise is being done correctly, and correct any errors in form or technique.
