Nail, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • The coach feeds 2 balls to the ad side and 1 ball to the deuce side
  • Player hits backhand cross-court, backhand down the line and forehand cross-court
  • Coach feeds the last ball shorter to the ad side
  • Player finishes with attacking backhand down the line

COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill, player works on control and consistency while using backhand
  • Being able to control the depth and direction while hitting backhand from the baseline is necessary to be able to build the point and get advantage on the court
  • Player should remember to add more topspin to the ball and to keep proper trajectory over the net
  • After adding one forehand to the pattern, player should also recognize shorter ball and develop habit of stepping forward and trying to finish the point also with backhand
  • Coach should pay attention to the power of the stroke and if it is not hard enough, technical feedback should be delivered.
