Football: Warmup Instep Pass

Group in pairs. One ball between the pair. Repeat in 5 other areas for a total of 12 players.

Progression: If you pass the ball back first time and score, you get 2 goals.

Set up as shown.

Player 1 passes the ball into the feet of player 2 who must turn and pass the ball to one of the three players outside of the cones, either to his left, right or behind him.

This drill will not only improve the passing technique of the players, but also improve their awareness; knowing what options they have before receiving the ball.

A Competitive game between 3-4 teams.

Each team takes it in turns to run out to the box and tries to pass the ball 5 times around the box which is defended by one player.

After the 5 passes they can advance into the box and try to get past the second defender and score.

* Every 5 successfully completed passes count as a point.

* A Goal counts as another point.

In groups of minimum of 4.

Set out the 2 goals behind which each team stands.

1 player from one group goes to the centre square of cones to receive the ball from the other side. They receive the ball, turn and pass the ball through the gate to their partner to score a point.

Then the player from the other team runs into the centre square to receive the ball and turn to pass the ball through the gate to their partner.
