Golf: Run The Gauntlet

This game can be played in any open area. Use markers to identify a start point for each team Split the group into teams (preferably of even numbers). Give each group one iron. Give each player 2,3 or 4 balls (players should mark their balls to tell them from others in the group. Give each group a yellow ball / football / cone to be used as the ?jack? ACTIVITY: Leaders place the 'jack' a suitable distance away from the start point Players take it in turn to chip their balls as close to the 'jack' as possible until all the balls have been hit. The player closest to the 'jack'? scores one point for every ball that is closer than any of his/her opponents. The player with the most points after a set period of time or number of 'ends' wins.

OBJECTIVE: Chip the ball in the air to hit the target.The ball scores where it first touches the ground. SCORING: Landing: Inside the Blue Cones 5 points Inside the Yellow Cones 3 points Inside the Green Cones 1 point Each player of the team has one attempt at this game.

Each team is divided into 4 groups and begins in one of the bays. Each player takes it in turn to try and land a ball in the scoring zone for his or her bay. Each player has 2 attempts in each bay before their group moves along to the next bay. Total number of points per bay are added together for all 4 groups to make the total score for the team.

SET-UP Set out a series of ?jumps? using marker cones Use a cone to mark the beginning of the course Mark out a safe area for non-hitters Split the group into teams Line the teams up at the starting point Give the player at the front of the line a club and a ball ACTIVITY Players try to get over the ?jumps? in turn Players have to clear each fence and land before the next to move onto the next fence When all players have been over the ?jumps? team sits down The first team to be sitting down wins

SET-UP: Three zones are marked up a wall numbered one, three and five. Mark out hitting areas and safe areas for non-hitters. Split the group into teams. Place one iron and some balls in each hitting area. ACTIVITY: Players take it in turn to hit a ball towards the wall. The aim is to get the ball as high up the wall as possible and the ultimate is to hit the 'high five' zone. After a shot the player returns to the safe area. When the teams have hit all their balls, the clubs are put down so that the balls can be collected safely. The team with the highest score after a set number fo hits or a specific period of time wins.

Place some upside down cones in between the participant and the target. Teams get minus points if any ball land or touches the hazard.

SET-UP: Mark out one or more obstacle courses using hoops, chairs, benches and other suitable markers. The course layout is set depending on the ability of the group. Use a suitable marker for the beginning and the end of the course. Split the group into teams and send each team to a starting point. Give each team a club and a ball. ACTIVITY: Teams play the course taking alternate shots. Each player attempts the same obstacle until one of them is successful. The team then moves onto the next obstacle. The first team to get to the end wins.

Create sectors using appropriate markers. In teams the children attempt to land the ball in the oppositions sector. Each team scores a point for every time they land the ball in the opponents sector.
