Golf: Building Bridges.

SET-UP: Use either a yellow ball or brightly coloured tee as the 'Jack' Split the group into teams of 4 Each team needs a putter and 1 ball per player each team needs to mark their balls to tell them apart from the opposition. ACTIVITY: Players putt their balls alternately in teams of 4. All balls nearest to the 'jack' scores points for the team. First to 21 is the winner

OBJECTIVE: To build a line of bridges ? i.e. pupils with legs apart ? as a putting target for the final player. Once successful with their putt they stand with legs astride the putting line for the next player. As many as five or six players per team. SCORING: Final completed bridge 10 points Failure at any stage means the team has to start again.

SET-UP: Use tees/cones to set up a bullseye around a hole/target preferably in the centre of the putting surface Split pupils into teams and space equally from the centre of the bullseye. ACTIVITY: Teams score points from putting into the various parts of the bulleye Highest score after a certain amount of putts wins

SET-UP: Mark out one or more Bullseyes using chalk, string, hoops or other suitable markers. Mark out hitting areas and safe areas for non-hitters. Split the group into teams and spread them around the bullseyes. Place one club and some balls in each hitting area. ACTIVITY: Players try to get the ball close to the centre of the target. Points are scored depending on where the ball finishes.

OBJECTIVE: Putt (roll) the ball along the ground to hit the cones. Players collect all cones the ball hits during their attempt. SCORING: Blue cones 5 points Yellow cones 3 points Green cones 1 point Red cone MINUS 2 points Each player of the team has one attempt at this game.

Each team is divided into pairs and each pair begins play on a different hole on the putting course. Players play alternate shots in their pair until they have finished their hole (i.e. the ball has been played from the tee to the hole/hoop). The number of shots taken is recorded for the hole before they rotate clockwise on to the next hole. This is repeated until all pairs have completed all holes. The total number of shots taken for each pair is then recorded on each scorecard. The total number of shots taken for all pairs is the total score for the team. The team with the lowest score of all is the winner.

SET-UP: Place a linbe of markers to represent the colours red, yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black - with the red marker closest to the designated target. Split the group into teams and send each team to a marked out area. Givwe each team one club and one ball. ACTIVITY: Tstarting from the red marker, the first player tries to 'pot' a red i.e. putt the ball in or on the target for one point. If successful, they then play from a colour - the points they get depends on the colour they choose - i.e. yellow = 2, green = 3, brown = 4, ect. If they score, the player carries on alternating between the red and a colour. Whne they miss, their score is added to the team total and control passes to the next player. The team with the highest score after a set period of time wins.

Starting with cone nearest to the target players attempt to putt the ball into the hole moving onto the next when successful. The winner is the first to hole three in a row.

OBJECTIVE: Play as a team attempting to hit the hole with your ?putt?.You can only move back to the next ?tee? if your team-mate has hit the hole before you. As soon as someone misses the team must start from the green tees again. SCORING: Green tees 1 point Yellow tees 3 points Blue tees 5 points Each player of the team has one attempt at this game.

SET-UP: Mark out several 'clockfaces' using cones, paper or other suitable markers. Place a target (cone, bean bag, golf hole etc) at the centre of each 'clockface'. Split the group into teams and send each team to a 'clockface'. Teams stand at 'one o'clock' in a line. Give each team one club and give each player one ball. ACTIVITY: The first player putts the ball towards the target. If they hit the target they move onto 2 o'clock but if they miss they stay at 1 o'clock and join the back of the line The second player putts, then the third, and so on. Players cannot move round until they have hit the target. The first player who makes it round to 12 o'clock wins

SETUP-UP: Mark out one or more tunnels using suitable markers. Split the group into teams. Give each team one putter and one ball. ACTIVITY: The first player tries to putt the ball all the way through the tunnel. The team scoresa point if the player successfully completes the task. The player fetches the ball, returns it to the next player, and joins the back of the line. The game continues either for a set period of time or until a team scores a set number of points (e.g. first to 10)

SET-UP: Mark out a series of starting points and targets using suitable markers. Allocate a letter for each target usinf chalk or other material. Split the group into teams and send each team to a hitting area. Give each team one putter and each player one ball. ACTIVITY: Players take it in turn to putt or chip into the targets. Teams use the letter of each target they hit into to spell out words. the team that makes the most words wins.

SET-UP: Zones are marked along the bottom of a wall, or on a bench turned on its side, or by using other suitable markers. Points are allocated to each zone as shown. Mork out hitting areas and safe areas for non-hitters. Split the group into teams.Place one club and one ball in each hitting area. ACTIVITY: Players take it in turn to putt the ball towards the scoring zone. Points are scored depending on which zone the ball hits. After their turn players fetch the ball and hand it to the next player. The team with the highest score after a set number of hits or a specific period of time wins.
