This sessions looks at developing your player’s core strength, refreshing and refining to make your players aware of their own fitness, getting them fully prepared for a match situation. By improving their core strength, your players will be able to drive forward to receive the ball and pass the ball with power and accuracy to their team-mates. Through a series of fun practises, get your players working hard to improve their fitness and essential skills, ready for your next fixture!
What’s in the Session?
Start off with a simple possession drill to get your players warmed up and ready for the session, before moving them onto a core, pump and power circuit. Here, your players will be doing exercises such as using a wobble board, making use of a wall for passing such as a chest pass and other exercises such as sit ups. Continue to make use of the walls in your sports hall or outdoor area to test your players’ speed and movement when reacting to a pass, making sure that they drive forward to receive the ball. Finish off with a game, so your players can put what they’ve learnt into practice!
