This tennis session is full of great exercises to improve your players' ability to read the ball and judge depth on the shot.
If your players are having to react at the last minute and are struggling to get into position to play their next shot then their ability to read the game and anticipate where the ball is going to bounce could be lacking!
What's in the Session?
To develop your players' ball judgement skills we've split the session into three clear sections:
After starting with a fun no racquets warm-up, followed by a running game of hot potato you will see your players rallying co-operatively as they run around the court and attempt to hone their ball reading skills.
A tiebreak is a short sprint where every point is worth the same as a break of serve. The players who win them are rarely the ones who hit hardest. Here is how to coach the patterns, habits and scoreboard thinking that win the big points.
Most club players practise the serve on its own and then have no idea what to do with the ball that comes back. Serve plus one is the pattern that turns a good serve into a won point.
Wimbledon has just crowned another champion, and if you watched closely you saw the same thing every year: the best returners quietly won the tournament. Here is how to coach a return that pressures the server rather than just surviving it.
