DESCRIPTION

  • The player faces away from the partner
  • Partner slightly tosses the ball in different directions and says "Go”
  • The player then turns around and tries to "Catch” the ball on the racket

COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill, the player works on physical components like distance perception, reaction and deceleration
  • In the early years of tennis development, physical improvement is of utmost importance so in this drill, they have opportunity to improve many physical areas at the same time
  • By performing these exercises at the beginning, players will get used to proper positioning to the ball and it will be easier for them to hit the ball in the next drills
