The coach and player stand close to the net on the ad side and rally together, whilst using backhand slice cross-court shots. This drill can also be used with two players, with the coach supervising and giving advice on how to develop and improve.
Level of control can be tested by performing drills where players stay close to each other. Many tennis players can rally successfully from the baseline but they really struggle with shots that demand good amount of control. Touch shots are important to take own game to the next level and be able to perform shots like counter drop shot or drop volley.
In this drill, the player works on "feeling" with backhand slice. Positioning close to the net and within short distance from the partner force both players to avoid power and focus 100 % on control.
