DESCRIPTION

Coach serves to the ad side.
Player hits an offensive forehand cross-court.
Coach hits the ball back in a cross-court direction.
Player finishes using backhand down the line.

COACHING POINTS

In this drill the player works on putting pressure on the opponent offering a weaker serve.
The awareness of having a weak serve is a reason why the opponent will feel a lot of stress while serving.
If the returner immediately puts the server under pressure, they will have doubts when starting the next point.
Player should step inside the court to make sure that the point of contact for the offensive shot is as early as possible.
In the second shot, the player should balance power with control to make sure that quality is maintained.

Target Serve Corner:

4 players, cones or spots, basket of tennis balls.

4 cones set up in each corner of the service box.

Two players take 2 serves each to the relevant service box aiming to hit the cones.

The next 2 players then take 2 serves each.

The drill continues until all balls have been used.

Serve and Return

Target Serve Central Line:

4 cones set up in a line along the centre of each service box.

Two players take 2 serves each to the relevant service box aiming to hit the cones.

The next 2 players then take 2 serves each.

The drill continues until all balls have been used.

1 point scored for every cone hit.

Surprise Your Opponent:

Coach serves second serve from Deuce/Advantage side. Player responds with return as a drop shot.

Win Without The Net:

Players play regular points. There is one rule: return can't be hit into the net. Any return missed into the net costs 2 points.
