DESCRIPTION

Have a player or the coach on one side of the court with a ball, looking to pass to the attacker.

The attacker should start on the other side of the court and will try to get past the defender and get closer to the ball so he can receive the pass.

Getting Free - Restricted Area | Footwork and Movement

Getting Free - Restricted Area:

  • Setup as shown.

    • The defender is only allowed to move up and down the line as shown. The attacker can move anyway within the box to try and catch the ball.

    Defensive Denial Drill | Footwork and Movement

    Defensive Denial Drill:

    This drill will need 1 person with a ball and a offensive and defensive player who will be set up between the cones.

    The offensive player will run from cone to cone. The defence must keep a hand between the ball and the offensive player to stop a pass going through.

    Double drop step | Shooting

    Double drop step:

    From the block do a spin back, drop step to the power box, lift fake from the chin position, jump step to a hook.

    Concentrate on not bringing the ball down below the shoulders.

    When shooting learn to keep the ball up from the chin position. If you move that ball even a centimeter away from that body the defender will be able to knock it away.

    Do twenty each side of the double drop step.

    Down Screen and Flare Cut | Screening

    Down Screen and Flare Cut:

    The down screen will happen away from the ball.

    The player receiving the screen will step over the screen and then take 2 long backward steps away from the screen towards the corner of the court.

    The screener will turn and cut back towards the ball.

    This cut will happen if the defender tries to get around the screen and stop the cut towards the ball.
