Be looking up so you can see the floor, as you may have a team mate wide open already so you would need to make a pass instead of a dribble move.

The crossover dribble it self is all about speed, keeping the ball low and how your body moves. You want your defender to think you are going one way then at the last second you cross over and go the other direction.

There are many video's on you tube of how to perform a cross over dribble. Players like Tim Hardaway and Allen Iverson are two of the best at the cross over dribble.
