My kids have lost a bit of their confidence after some heavy defeats

Hi Jason,
Being on the end of heavy defeats is never fun and it can be hard for players to see how to get out of the circle of losing. Building a positive team spirit amongst your players, telling them to not worry about the scoreline and encouraging them to enjoy playing with each other will have a positive effect on confidence. You can take it back to basics in training with possession drills. This will improve players confidence on the ball as well as get them working together as a team. Here`s a good possession drill which you could use. Telling them not to worry about the scoreline in matches and just keep trying to play the Football that you are trying to play should get your players enjoying the game. I hope this was helpful!
