I have a very talented U11 squad who can't seem to transition to 9v9 football, they were great at 7v7 but 9v9 seems to be a bit of a stretch for them.Any tips would be well appreciated

Hi Jaden,They look to be struggling with everything tbh but getting them to work together and keep their shape is the main battle, we just seem to be slow & clueless...we were a good strong & skillful 7v7 team but its not translating to 9v9

What I have found watching my daughter`s team transition from 7v7 to 9v9 are the teams who transition from 7v7 to 9v9 better are the ones who make use of the whole field. As the field size grows, using the space and taking advantage of that space starts to be an important part of team play.
Not sure if you are experiencing what we did, but when we moved up players were still using space like we were playing on a 7v7 field, so the game was played with both teams confined to 1/4 - 1/3 of the field.
We have been working on keeping width and depth but it is still a struggle at times and we are transitioning to 11v11 so more struggles with usage of space.
