Once I get home this evening I'll try and help you. But keep in mind their movement will largely depend on who/where you gain possession, and what formation you have at mid-field, flat or diamond.
Kevin, We have midfielders in a diamond formation. Thanks for offering to help. Pete
The defensive midfielder in a diamond formation sweeps across in front of the back four, protecting the defence and allowing the other midfield players to get forward. This player can also act as a link between the defence and the midfield, allowing your team to pass the ball out from the back. Depending on your own tactics, the left and right of the diamond can either be very compact which will make it easier to control play going through the middle. If you choose to do this you are sacrificing width and leave your opponents wingers with acres of space to receive the ball so your full backs would have to be pretty aware. The attacking midfielder in the diamond operates in the gap inbetween the midfield and the forwards and attempts to feed the strikers and play the 'killer' passes in order to create goalscoring opportunities.
