My U10's wont tackle hard enough? I coach an U10's team and the problem I have is that they are too nice! Any suggestions how I can get them to show a little more aggression, especially in tackles without turning them into bullies/thugs?
A well known game called 'Tigers In The Jungle'. Mark out a playing area 20 by 30 metres ish. Apoint a 'Tigers' who waits outside the playing area. All the other players have a ball in the marked area and start them dribling around. Shout 'Tigers in the jungle!! and then the tiger can come in and start tackling any of the players. Once the 'Tiger' kicks the ball out fo the area, the tackled player must go and retieve the ball and then come back into the area and stand legs apart with the ball above their head. They can be released if another player comes and passes a ball between their legs. You can develop to more than one tiger. Give the players animal noises, depending on their age etc. I've always found that the kids love this and become very competative tacklers in a fun enviroment.
