I am looking for a session or drills that improve players first touch. Our biggest issues are First Touch so we need to work on this, another issue is the 'second ball' we always win the first header but never get to the second ball quick enough so any help with these issuse would be great!
Hi,
Here's a great drill to improve your players first touch and close control. The most important thing is repetition when looking to improve this skill as it allows players to get a proper feel for the ball and learn what techniques work best for them.
Winning the second ball is often driven by mentality and a desire to beat the opposition to the ball and win it back. This is something that is difficult to teach. However, you can add levels of competition into training which teaches players a want to win and drive to battle for every ball.
Hope this helps.
