Just wondering what other coaches do with the kids whilst I set up the cones for the drills? Normally I ask them to have a drink but whilst I am setting up the cones I find balls flying everywhere because they are messing around with them. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
i would tell them to stay warm and do stretches, if they still keep the balls around i would make them run 1-2 laps with the team as a group in order to stop them from doing it, however dont single out anyone kicking the balls make it a team effort. if they then stop kicking the balls whilst you set up the cones reward them with a game at the end or a similar football activity
I would suggest taking advantage of all the space you have, setting up all your drills before starting your session to enable you to move from one session to the next without having any big gaps between your drills. You could also include rules for inbetween drills, i.e - if any footballs are touched during breaks, 5 minutes will be removed from match time at the end of training.
Have a quick game small sided game/simple activity to hand that they can do without instruction. It can be as simple as `soccer tennis`, where they have to play in pairs, trying to get balls over a gate (two cones/discs)

Set pieces account for roughly a third of all goals in football, yet many coaches spend surprisingly little time coaching defensive organisation at corners and free kicks. This article compares zonal and man marking systems, explores hybrid approaches, and provides a practical session structure for building set piece resilience into your team.
A player's first touch determines everything that follows: whether they can play forward, turn, or simply retain the ball. This article explores why training first touch in isolation is not enough, and how to design sessions that develop this critical skill under realistic game pressure.
