We have a group of 10 year olds (10 of them) and wanted to make our scrimmage more effective by working forwards and defenders at the same time.My thought was to have 2 teams%3A team 1/forwards%3A score on goal and team 2/defenders that get a point for regaining the ball.Any better ideas?
Have you tried the Barca SSG?
Normal small-sided game with 2 goals
Coach shouts the following...
POSSESSION - Players keep possession in their own half, teaches your defence to pass the ball around at the back and your attackers how to press high up the field. If the other team wins back possession they must take it back to their own half as the possession rule still applies (teams cannot score)
NORMAL GAME - Returns to normal SSG (teams can score)
BARCA - Players try to keep possession in the oppositions half without looking to score, teaches your attackers how to hold the ball up the field which can be useful when trying to break down solid defences. Teaches defenders how to slow down the attacking move whilst trying to win back possession (teams cannot score)
Hope this helps!
