goalkeeper defend against crosses in 9v9 in half ground
my best friend is a goalkeeper, he says that dealing with crosses is one of the most difficult things to learn as a gk. Practice, practice and more practice, it is that simple. My friend sucked at dealing with crosses, but he spent the last year or so practicing dealing with crosses for at least 20 minutes in every goalkeeper practice (3 gk practices a week for the whole year) and he improved dramatically in that area.
Simple practice of crossing the ball into the area, explain proper technique how to deal with crosses to your gk and repeat a million times from both sides :) He will gain confidence and technique needed to deal with crosses.
As a goalkeeper, you have to be confident. As Neven says practice is always good, and the exercises he has given are ideal. the reading of a cross, is essential to the `keeper so as to predict where the ball will come to in his area and at its highest point. He`ll have big forwards to deal with but he has to remember that when he jumps he also has the extra height of his arms going up. hope this helps a bit and good luck
