My under 10's defenders keep getting caught forward when the opposition counter attack and we concede goals because we don't get back quick enough. How can I improve this please?

I have added a session plan to this answer that covers recovery runs for beginners. Hope it helps.

Tom
great thanks i will try it this week
Ask youself: "is it neccassary for my defenders to go that far forward?"Start of by keeping all the defenders back and then slowly progress to the fullback moving up ect.
They need to understand that their main way to help the team is to defend rather than score.
Plus, should the question read "how do i slow the oppositions counter attacks" instead of "how can i get my players back faster".
Focus on how to slow their counter attacks and will become a major advantage for you and your team.
in more ways than one
