You can work on getting your team to show inside and into central areas. This will help to nullify play into wide areas.

If the ball gets out wide make sure your players have clear instructions into what exactely you want to happen when they are defending out wide. i.e. if you are playing against wrong footed winger you may instruct your defenders to show them outside as to not let them in towards a shot at goal. The opposite may happen if playing against conventional wingers or you work to stop the crosses if that is the main danger.
