pre season training for U18 girls any ideas? fitness drills?
Hi Graham, call your 1st session a week before you actually want to start and have a 2 way chat about the season ahead and get some committment of them. Have a detailed warm up then do team building to get them to gel especially if you have new players. Do a simple passing exercise then finish off with a two touch game. (Your first session will be the most important so leave them wanting to come back for more.) Fitness drills I swear by the Fartlek approach (Swedish for Speed play! We were our League Winners 08/09) Use sprints with recovery in between say 6 sprints width of pitch with 30 secs recovery then straight into 3 mins passing ball around. Then repeat once more. there is many more but try footy4kids or the BBC website for Pre Season
