Progressions usually come down to four dials: space, numbers, touches and time. Start by shrinking the area so players have to make decisions faster, then change the numbers so the side in possession loses its overload and has to work harder to keep the ball. After that, limit touches â two-touch, then one-touch â which forces earlier scanning and a better first touch. Finally add a time or target condition, like scoring only after six passes or winning the ball back within five seconds. Change one dial at a time and only when the players are succeeding at the current level; if the quality drops, give the space or the extra player back.
