what kind of session do I plan for under 8 players.
Lots of short drills that keep their attention, have a look in the drills section for some inspiration. Also pick drills that keep all of the players involved as you do not want youngsters stood around waiting.
If you can, get progressions, where you start with something simple and build it up to something more complicated. Also talking with the players and asking them what they have learnt and how they think they should do something (stopping the ball etc) keeps them involved. But definitely keep them all involved with as many footballs as possible, and tell them that to make mistakes in training is good, it's probably the best way to learn. But most importantly, don't expect miracles from them, and if they are having fun, they will want to come back and keep improving!
