DESCRIPTION
A 4 v 2 drill depending on which team has possession. A square box is set up using cones. 2 blue and 2 white players are outside this box. The two players defending must prevent the opposing team retaining the ball. Once possession is relinquished the players outside the box are unused awaiting their team gaining possession again.

Good Morning,

The key teaching points for your players in this drill are:

  • Maintaining possession and control of the ball
  • Moving into space and finding areas of the pitch where you are available to receive a pass
  • Communication so players in possession of the ball know where the space is and who is available.
  • Decision making - Play the right pass and find the players who are in space.
  • Defensive pressure - Make the tackle or the interception and do not allow the opposition time on the ball.
