4 v 2 Rotation

Four players are placed in a grid with two defender. The four attacking players aim is to keep possesion as long as possible. The player who makes the mistake must swap over and become the defender.

Possession

Keep ball and kick theirs

For the first part of this drill put your team into 3s and give them one ball per group. Staying inside the grid players must pass between themselves, never standing still, working their way all around the area. Once your players have worked like this for a few minutes you can now add a tackling element into this drill. Players must continue to work the ball around the grid, constantly moving but they must now also try to kick the other team's balls out of the area. The last team in possession of their own ball is the winner.

One Touch Passing

Players are 10 metres apart facing each other.Player 1 starts with the ball.Player 1 rolls the ball to player 2 who passes the ball back with instep using 1 touch.After 10 repetitions swap roles.

Passing Triangle

3 players stand around 3 metres apart from one another with one ball between them. They can pass in either direction and should start with two touch football, using strong side footed passes. After a few minutes you can introduce a one touch rule to encourage players to think about where they are going to pass before they even receive the ball.

White player 1 runs the length of the field at match pace and makes their move to run onto the ball served in by Red player 1. White player should then shoot on goal.

Scoring From Crosses 1v1

Two Players are placed on the wing.2 central Players begin their run once the crosser has taken their first touch.After the cross has been delivered swap roles.

The Diagonal Pass

Players work in pairs, with one ball per pair. The first player makes a square pass across the grid to their partner before running onto the cone ahead. Their partner then plays a pass diagonally across the grid back to their partner who is looking to run onto the ball. The player who started the drill then plays square across the grid again to their partner running onto the ball. The players work their way up to the top of the grid.

Players stand in a triangle formation, with an extra man stood behind the player on the ball. Players pass in a clockwise direction, following their pass.

AUDIO DESCRIPTIONStart by placing the balls around a cone in a wide area. The cone or flat disc will make sure the servers do not encroach to close to the goalkeepers.One goalkeeper working. A gate on the penalty spot for the Server 2Server 1 plays the ball between the gate for Server 2 to hit first time.If S2 scores they become the goalkeeper and the goalkeeper starts at the back of the S1 line.If S2 misses they just go to the back of the S1 line and S1 takes the place of S2 no matter what the outcome

Attacking the ball for U10s

I am a coach of a U10 girlâs team, who for the majority haven't previously played. I'm finding that they are now shying away from the ball and moving backwards instead of closing the gap, tackling or putting the attacking team under pressure when they have the ball. i coach 35 u7s and trying to keep them all entertained is a challenge! We train in a sports hall and divide this into 4 quarters and try to have 4 different drills going but anyone got 4 good games to keep them interested. Its tough having lots of kids of all abilities but its a good challenge!
