Quick deep pass - Outnumber the defenders

Working on playing a quick pass to the deepest player on your team. Using the route one pass to quickly outnumber the opposition's defence. After receiving the hard pass from the midfield player (red 3) the players should try to shake off the defender before then deciding to either play the pass to one of their team-mates or going it alone. Finish the drill with an attempt at goal.

2 players face each other 10m apart.<br> <BR>1 ball per pair. The players pass the ball to each other using the instep pass, and with each pass take a step closer.

Football: Movement before rece...

The red player (1) stands between the cones closest to the blue player. When red player 1 is ready to receive the ball they move towards their marker before checking off the player and making a run to either the left, centre or right gate. The blue player then plays the ball towards red player 1 who receives the ball and plays a one touch pass back. The red players change roles when the defender intercepts the ball from the attacking player.

Group players in pairs, facing each other 5 yards apart.The player in possession rolls the ball to the side of his partner to demonstrate how much harder a ball is to stop when it travels along the ground. Once familiar with this knowledge, players must attempt to shoot their balls past their partners. Partners must attempt to stop or save the balls. Repeat and rotate.

Set up a playing area, divided into three equal sized playing areas. Players cannot enter another zone.To begin with play 6 attackers (3 in both ends) v 1 defender in the middle.The aim for the attackers is to use good passing movement to create space for the pass into the opposite zone.

2 players are placed on the outside of the grid and 2 players on the inside. The players on the inside of the grid are the defenders but are not allowed to come out of the grid. The 2 outside players just have to keep possession by playing lofted passes over the 2 middle players.

set out 2 lines of cones towards the goal. Players go in pairs 1 ball between them. player on the right dribbles across the grid with the ball the other player runs round the back and overlaps with this player. The player on the ball passes the ball to the other player when the player has crossed over to the other side of the grid. Exercise repeats all the way to the end and one of the players finishes with a shot at goal.

Starting in a 6 vs 3 (in favour of the defending side) a feeder player on the half-way line plays a high ball deep into the half. The defending side must get the ball quickly under control and then aim to pass the ball out back to the feeder as quickly as possible.

A three way pass and receive drill. The first player passes straight to the red player and then runs out wide ready to receive the red player's return pass which should go through the gate. Once they've received this pass through the gate the blue player plays a long ball (lofted or driven) to the player on the far cone who controls the ball and then dribbles through the slalom back to the start line.

Player 1 passes to player 2, meanwhile player 3 reacts to this pass and moves so that they're ready to receive from player 2, with their body open to the wing. Meanwhile player 1 charges up the line, ready to receive the pass from player 3. When they receive the ball on the run they switch the ball to player 1 on the other side and the drill continues.

Create 5 x 5 yard squares in corners of the grid. Play 4 v 4.<br />The red team has possession of the ball. The object of the game is to play the ball into one of the two attacking boxes for a player to run into and control the ball with the sole of the foot. The play is conditioned to encourage one touch passing and switching play. The red team is attacking to the right side of the diagram.

Set up as shown with 2 cones (the disatance of which between can be modified depending on ability or challenge you want to set your players).1 player on each cone and 1 player in the middle, 1 ball between the 3.Play starts with 1 end player passing it into the middle player who tranfers the ball to the other side.Middle players follows their pass and goes to the outside while the outside player plays a long pass across before getting into the middle to receive and play the ball back out through the other side.The player in the middle and 1 player on the outside will always rotate roles, while the other player on the outside will remain in their position.

Hi, My team plays in a mini soccer league which is 7v7. Whats the best formation to play in the environment. We have played 2-3-1 all season but i was looking at 3-1-2 this season using the left and right backs as wingers aswell. Any one got any thoughts? Cheers
