Hi i coach an under 13s side and they play great pass and move football but we are weak when defending does anyone know any decent defence drills where they are required to work as a unit
I can not get my midfield to be combatative and stop the ball watching, Technically they are a strong unit, just switch off too much ??
How to set the team up to defend a team that play the high ball over the top for thier fast forward to run on too
The team I help coach concedes too many goals ?
Any drills for teaching young players about offsides and more importantly keeping a good defensive line and moving as a unit
We have a tall strong player in our under 12 team, he is well built but we are not sure what his best position is ie out and striker or centre back he tends to go on long runs and can withstand strong tackles but he does try to do too much and can tire, he doesn't always pass when he should and often will shoot wide where placing his shoot would be better any suggestions ?
Team keep getting thrashed every week - where to start? Having been the sole coach/manager of a little league team for the past two years, this year I lost all my senior players. I was therefore presented with 10 brand new lads, some of whom have never played competitive football. We are 8 games in and my lads are getting thrashed every week. The main problems are that they cannot get the ball out of their half, positions are usually a mess, finishing and chance creation are non-existent, and they don't apply any pressure or are unable to tackle. The main problems are keeping the ball as a team, getting it in the opponents half and staying there, and creating/finishing chances. I only have 1 and a half hours a week with them. I don't really know what to do, and I'm a little desperate. Does anybody have any advice? Thanks for literally anything.
Getting them to work as a team. Our team has been through two seasons (U-8), but we still see eight kids out there and not a cohesive unit as a team. They get in each other's way, don't pass as often as they should, and little to no communication other than "pass it to me!" What drills are available to help build teamwork?
I have a team of u11/12s and only 2 of them have played league football before. We have had several games now and they are getting better but we are running out of drills to do with them... They need to work on: passing, offside rule, possession play. I have struggled most of all because I used to coach at the Bournemouth academy where every player knows what there doing. Any suggestions on what I could do? Massively appreciated thank you!
I have justed started coaching an under 8 team that plays 5-a-side, as is normal with small kids the tendency is to follow the ball around like sheep. How do I get then to maintain their positions and move as a unit? What drills would be useful to teach positional awareness and team play?thanks

Recommendations teaching 4-4-2 formation to 12-14 yr olds in short time frame.
My back line does not want to move up the field when we have ball which throws us off in possesion bc it pins the 2 6s back. In practice they do it fine (including full field) but once we get into game they do not move? Any ideas
