I have just joined as a coach for an Under 12's side. The group has been together for over 3 seasons but has struggled to win games. This season is the same although we have improved in ability the boys still have the mentality that they will loose. How do I coach this out of them?
Hello fellow coaches and friends. I have been coaching for two years now. Started off incharge of a new under 10's team and we have now stepped up to 11 aside as under 12's. I wanted to ask about formations at this level, my fellow coaches who also help have been playing 433 whilst i have been away. Is this too advanced at this level?
We have a tall strong player in our under 12 team, he is well built but we are not sure what his best position is ie out and striker or centre back he tends to go on long runs and can withstand strong tackles but he does try to do too much and can tire, he doesn't always pass when he should and often will shoot wide where placing his shoot would be better any suggestions ?
I'm just starting to coach a newly formed Futsal team of 12-14 yo. Can you suggest the best sessions to build an understanding of basic skills, tactics and how to play as a team.Any thoughts are much appreciated.thanks

I have a U12 girls that play8v8 with ofsides.Often times they want to hang on the 18 and wait for the attack. Despite practice. It seems some prior coaches that have coached at the varsity level feel that keeping your back line in a V formation with the center toward the goal is the best. To me having a line pressing will allow the wings and mid to get back and help. Keeping the defense back I think is bad medicine as well as creating space in between the center back and mid fielder. Allows the attack to then pass between defenders and to space. No offside advantage either. What is right. I have been able to get them to play up at least but the v formation seems to cause the advantage to the attacker. Are the higher up coaches wrong or are they trying to implement a tactic that works better with 11v11?
Hi, I have taken on my first U11 football team and we are building a squad from scratch for all comers, we have picked up some good players with a few who have hardly ever kicked a ball. I have always promoted everyione is welcome but it seems some of the better players are now making comments that they wont stay if the lesser players continue! What do i do?
There are a number of pupils in my class that don't know the basic skills needed to play football, they lack the skills needed and the discipline. Because of that I'm asking if any of you have some ideas what to do? Ideally I need ideas on what to do to help get my class into shape and to start learning the basics.
I have a fantastic group of U12's (9 a side), who I encourage to play with the ball on the floor, quick passing football. We are a very attacking minded team, but that is our weakness - we need to remember that we do not have 8 strikers.Does anybody have any drills or tips for making sure that midfielders remember midfield?
Hi I have quite a large squad (11) for my U9s team. Sometimes not all of them turn up but when they do managing the substitutions can be a nightmare. Have tried planning it out and making 3 subs on a rotation every 6 or 7 minutes. This works OK, just wondered how others do it? Thanks! Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
I am coaching two U12 boys groups. They have minimal training in the past, I have worked on dribbling and passing. Just starting 1 v 1s. I am training now in a gym, was wondering if any one had any drills that would work with approx. 15 kids?
I coach an under 12s team and although in training we do lots of passing and shooting drills, using both feet, when it comes to a game situation (in training or on Sunday) they all go back to only kicking using their stronger foot.
This is my first season coaching u12's - I have a lot of experience with coaching younger children in which I concentrated on skills, ball work etc (90%). Just wondering does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how much fitness work is req'd for 11 and 12 year olds.
