Crazy 6 s

Place 5 discs with soccer balls on them on each end line. Play 6 v 6 in the area. When the ball rolls out of bounds, it should be rolled in underhand by a player. The object is to score by knocking one of the balls off a disc on your teams attacking end line.

Soccer Cricket Conditioned gam...

Make two teams of 6. The coach is the pitcher. He stands in a 5 x 5 yard area 10 yards from the wickets (5 cones in a row). Position one cone 10 yards from the wicket. The pitcher passes the ball from the mound in the direction of the wickets (line of discs). The batter must kick the ball and then run around the base, back to the wickets. He must be ready to face the next pitch which is delivered as soon as the pitcher receives the ball, passed back from the outfield. The batter continues to bat until he is bowled out (the pitcher knocks down the wicket) or caught by an outfielder. Continue until all batters on the team are out.

Four Goal Football Conditioned...

Play small sided game in a suitable area (e.g half field 6v6). Two teams attempt to score in any of the goals. A goal counts if the ball is passed through the goals and one of your teammates receives the pass round the otherside of the goal. The game is continued so it does not stop after every goal.

Four groups are placed at four corners of the square. The two groups to one side of the square dribble the ball around the square in a clockwise fashion and the other two dribble the ball around the square in a anti-clockwise fashion. Keep going until all the team have been at least once.

Farmers and Foxes Conditioned ...

The foxes (players) put bibs into the back of their shorts. The farmer (coach) runs around the area attempting to pull the bibs out. When a players bib is pulled out, he becomes a farmer too. Play until 1 fox is left. The players must remain within the confines of the area throughout the activity. Any player running outside the area, automatically becomes a farmer.

All players must try to dribble past the defender to the safety of the other side on the coach's call. If the defending player manages to kick the other players ball out of the area, then that player also becomes a defender. Continue until one attacker remains.

Get your players to stand an equal distance around the cones in the middle. There should be one less cone than there are players - so in this instance there are 10 cones and 11 players. On the coach's call players sprint into the middle and try to collect a cone. Once players have collected a cone they should run back to their starting position.

Set up cones in a zig-zag formation. Groups of 6 are stationed on the endline. 1 ball per group. The dribblers move up, then back down the cones performing inside and outside of the foot turns to get back to their team. Inside of the foot, chop on the way up, outside hook on the way down. Make it a race between the groups.

5 vs 5 game where the object is to steal as many cones from the opposition as possible.Every goal your team scores is worth one of your opponent's cones.

Divots! Conditioned games - So...

Scatter some cones (divots) across the area, some the right way up, and some upside down. Split the group into two teams - 'Hackers and Greenkeepers' - and spread them out across the area. On the word 'Go' the Hackers run round turning the divots upside down and the Greenkeepers must turn them the right way up.

Rats and Rabbits Dribbling - F...

1 ball per player. Players should perform fast footwork drills - either with the inside of the foot to inside of foot or toe tapping on top of the ball. When the coach shouts out "Rats!", the players at the top of the diagram must attempt to chase the other players. The object of the game is for the player in pursuit to tag his opposing partner on the back of the shoulders before he reaches the end line. Players return to the middle discs after each attempt. Repeat and rotate directions. The team in pursuit attempts to strike their ball to hit the opposing player on or below the knee.

3 pairs of players start by holding hands. They are the crocodiles. All other players have 1 ball each. The players dribble around trying to avoid the crocodiles. If a crocodile kicks a players ball out of the area, the player then links hands with the crocodile. Together, they chase other players. Play until 1 player remains.

Set up two cones about 2-3 metres apart. Players work individually with a ball each. Players must face forward at all times while moving the ball from cone to cone, dragging the ball with the sole of their foot.

Skills dribbling - players dribble with the ball to the first cone which they should then run around in an anti-clockwise direction. They then run to the second cone and run around this one in an anti-clockwise direction as well. From this point players run through the two gates before running from the near right to far left cone, along the back edges of the blue cones (far left to far right) and finally around the near left cone before dribbling back to the touchline.

Get players working in two's coming forward, dragging and pushing the ball before dribbling forward and passing the ball across. This drill builds confidence and will show holes in technique.

Player dribble the ball forwards before dragging it back and pushing it forwards again. The contact with the boot should involve a push rather than tap.

Set up as shown with cones evenly spaced out. The distance between the cones can be modified depending on your players abilities. Player(s) dribbles through the cones performing toe taps to get through the cones without touching them, neither with the ball nor their feet.

Players stand in a line with one ball each and take it in turns to run around the cones (space the cones around 5 metres apart). The dribbling player should aim to keep the ball close to their feet at all times as they navigate around the cones. As they approach the centre cone they run around it before moving onto the next cone. Every time they go round an outside cone the next cone should be the middle one.

Group in pairs, with one ball per pair. Station each pair at every other disc. Number the players 1 and 2. Place a disc in the center of the circle. On the command "one" each player 1 must dribble towards the disc in the center of the circle, around the cone, and back to his partner. Repeat for player 2.

Close control dribbling with the ball. This practice is a good practice to set up as part of a skill circuit where the players pratice lots of variations of dribbling. Place the cones about 5 metres apart and ask the players to dribble around the cones in a figure of eight as fast as they can.

The coach calls out any of the four directions: Coke, 7 Up, Sprite or Pepsi. The players must dribble their ball in the direction that the coach has called. The coach can introduce other commands such as milkshake - kids do a forward roll, Sparkling water - All players link arms around the coach, Orange juice - all players hop on one leg.

Hi, My team plays in a mini soccer league which is 7v7. Whats the best formation to play in the environment. We have played 2-3-1 all season but i was looking at 3-1-2 this season using the left and right backs as wingers aswell. Any one got any thoughts? Cheers
