In this drill player works on perception and reaction skills. By looking at the coach's hand player focuses the attention on a visual sign so this ability will be transferable to the match situation where player has to focus on the ball. Additionally random directions of the run force the player to quickly react what is necessary to effectively play tennis at any level.
