DESCRIPTION

Take out the apparatus.

Travel in and out of the apparatus in different ways e.g in any way the children choose feet, hands, crawl etc. Its is important to keep the children moving all the time. When the apparatus is clear get the children to slide underneath it and step over the top.

COACHING POINTS

Let children choose how they want to move.

Encourage children to link two movements.

Let the children explore the apparatus.

Discuss forwards, backwards and sideways movements.

Demo the different movements.

Walk backwards slowly, making sure that the children look their shoulders as they do it. The next stage is for the children to walk sideways.

Ask the children for other ways to move around the floor on their feet.

Put the apparatus out.

Ask the children to run in and out of the apparatus without bumping into each other. The next stage is to get them to go over / under / in and out of the apparatus making sure that it is clear.

Ask the children to find places to curl up, then stretch out.

Set out apparatus.

Ask the children to travel over, under and around the apparatus.

Ask the children to stretch out wide under or on top of the apparatus.

Ask the children to travel around the apparatus in a cureled shape and then stretch out wide on the apparatus.

Ask the children to move around the hall in a controlled and careful way exploring the apparatus.

Ask the children to travel in different ways around the hall, focusing on curled and stretched shapes.

Ask the children to curl up on a pice of apparatus and grow into a stretched shape.
Hold the stretched shape and count to 5 and then ask the children to stand.
