DESCRIPTION

Players rally together using cross court shots. One player executes a drop shot down the line when there is an easier ball.

COACHING POINTS

Players hit a lot of drop shots when they play on clay courts but they refuse to use this weapon when they have to play on hard courts. Jerzy Janowicz and Agnieszka Radwanska are great examples to show that the surface doesn't matter if you know how to execute this shot.

Respond to Drop Shot:

Coach tosses low and short balls really close to the net. Player sprints and responds with counter drop shots.

Drop Shot Technique:

Coach feeds easy balls to the player. Player tries to hit drop shots.

Attacking

Add Some Variety:

Coach feeds short balls to the player. Player alternates offensive shot and drop shot.

Forehand Drills

Low contact:

The player stands behind the baseline, ready to receive the ball. The coach then throws the ball low on the player's backhand side. With bent knees the player has to hit a topspin backhand to the other side of the net.
