Tennis: Forehand Slice With Reaction

Your tennis drills are extremely useful coaching tools.
Nail, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Coach stands in front of the player with a ball in hand.
  • Player takes dynamic position ready to react.
  • Coach randomly drops the ball.
  • Player reacts, sprints forward and hits forehand slice.

COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill, player works on their reactions and forehand slice execution.
  • Player should try to be as still as possible before hitting the ball and maintain a low position with the legs to increase the chance for successful shot.
  • Players have to remember to accelerate the racket while hitting a slice to produce sharp backspin and make it more difficult for their opponents to play the next shot.
  • For more advanced players, coach can stand closer to the player or make the player face backwards to increase the demand for quick reaction.
