DESCRIPTION

  • Player stands on the baseline.
  • Coach feeds a difficult ball to the deuce side.
  • Player runs, slides and hits a defensive forehand slice.

COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill the player works on forehand slice while sliding.
  • Coach should teach players to keep the legs low while sliding and to control the upper body posture.
  • Losing balance leads to many unforced errors so keeping the legs low and the upper body in an upright position are priorities for players who want to win more points while being under pressure.
  • More advanced players can also vary the depth, height and pace of their slice shots to be able to achieve tactical goals.
