Tennis: Upper Body Control In Close Stance

Thank you very much for the marvellous site.
Nick, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Player sets up close stance
  • Coach feeds easy ball to the forehand side
  • Without moving the feet, the player turns upper body and executes forehand using only upper body parts.

COACHING POINTS

  • Player works on upper body work in the forehand stroke while using close stance
  • Keeping the legs still, the player feels how to coil and uncoil the upper body
  • During the forehand preparation, upper body turn helps to achieve good point of contact and develop good power for the shot
  • It is important to develop fluid upper body motion to make sure that later on the whole body works effectively from the ground up.
