DESCRIPTION

  • Cones are set in front of the player inside the service boxes
  • The coach alternates feeding to the forehand and to the backhand
  • The player makes a split step over the cones, executes a regular volley and recovers behind the cones to start the action with the other volley too.

COACHING POINTS


  • In this drill, the player works on technical aspects related to footwork in volleys
  • Dynamic split step is crucial for quick reaction
  • Players have to make small jump forward to allow themselves to move towards the ball and play the ball with control
  • Additionally, it is important to pay attention to the stepping forward to guarantee the work of the full body and necessary balance after the shot
