Hey. I am 14 years old, 186cm tall(6'11) and I weight 81kg(178 pounds). I play left back. I am good in defense, but I am not so great in offense. My shot is not so strong and accurate. I want to make my shot stronger and more accurate. How can I achieve that?
I want to improve my jump too. How can I jump higher? Can anyone give me advices?
Thanks in advance. %3A)
First of all have a look at your technique. Mostly coordination and shooting with the right technique will make you jump higher for a start.
I hope your trainer will have a closer look at your jumpshot as a start.
Start practising at your cenetr shot , the normal shot you use to pass or shoot at the goal.
To make it better and shoot harder : technique is nr 1.
1. Physical drills like push ups are OK to make your shoulder muscles stronger.
2. Then you may use heavier balls (800 gr) to throw at a vertical standing mat : series of 8 shots and then 3 series.
Then use lighter balls (tennis balls) to improve the speed of your arm : : series of 8 shots and then 3 series.
Then use normal handball to make a complete picture and have the feeling back of a normal weight ball which you can now throw harder.
Train for about 3 times a week with this procedure. Having a break day (no power training like this )after every training day.
To improve your jump you can do all sorts of jumping drills on one or two legs.
Work in series of 8-10 jumps and no more than 3 series in one training.
Specialise in VERTICAL jumps. After the series make 3 series of 8-10 jump shots against a blocking defender. Always use the same basic technique and after you have improved start using different techniques.
Thanks Roland Kop, you are the best! :)
