Hi Nicholas,
The most common method of defending is the 6:0 defence, with every outfield member of the team around the edge of the circle with idea being to not let the opposition players to get in behind the defence.
You can also defend further out, away from the edge of the circle, but in this position, it is vital to have layers so that when they do get behind the first line of defence, there are covering defenders to attempt to slow the attack or intercept.
Therefore, it`s vital to have at least one deep defender to offer cover and not allow attacker to get into the edge of the circle un-opposed.
