Hi, I'm a teenis player (ITF Futures level) I used to do a lot of ace as 30 or 40 % in my first serve. Then, I had an injury (ankle) and I was awhile without training. I started playing again 3 month ago, and now I don't have any confidence in my serve. For this reason I have to play with second serves almost all matches and practises. I would like to know what can I do. I would appreciate if someone could help me in this case. Thanks.
My advice is reduce your speed of your 1st serve to 80% and make it more
consistence. After that your can increase it.
Its important to put the 1st server in.
Good Luck.

I would practice serving from close to the net and gradually serving from different distances until going back to the baseline.
That will bring your confidence back !
Good luck !
When we lose confidence in our serves we all get small, we don't toss high or hit high. One of the best ways to get your serve back is during practice hit the serve to the back fence. So from the baseline serve up and out trying to hit the back fence, this will get you hitting up and out and get your racquet speed up, once you are able to do this 15-20 times then you can pracitce the down part of your serve by hitting the ball down into the service box on your side of the net to the service box on the other side. This is the down part of the serve or snap. Once you have done this successfully 15-20 times put it alltogether, this should allow for a better server. I would be interested in knowing which ankle you injured, if it is the outer foot (if you are a right hand player it you be your left foot) you may not feel like you can put your full weight on this foot causing you to not go up to the ball.
Try to build strength in the injured legged, this will help give you more push off. Try putting toes on the edge of a step and raising up on your toes. Good Luck with your tennis!
