Cutting and shooting drill Sho...

Start position is on the block. Toss the ball to the free throw line extended at the three-point line. Jag, step and cut to catch the ball in a quick step. Take the ball to the shooting pocket and forward pivot into the triple threat position facing the front pocket. Do a shoulder fake towards the free throw line and drive on a dribble to the baseline taking a shot from about 8 meters.

The player will jump off their inside leg and shoot with their outside hand. Once they have shot they will get the rebound and shoot with their other hand on the opposite side of the basket. 4 Minutes - Normal layups with backboard 4 minutes - reverse layups with backboard 4 minutes - normal no backboard 4 minutes - reverse no backboard

Dribble the ball around one leg and through the legs. Keep the hand not dribbling the ball tucked into the chest. Alternate hands to improve the less dominant hand.

Cone Dribbling Basic Ball Hand...

Players take it in turns to dribble at the cone and then stop right in front of it and dribble all the way around the cone with controlled fingertip dribbles. Once a full rotation has been completed then you move on to the next cone.

Close-out baseline drive Shoot...

The defensive player will pass the ball to the offensive player. The defensive player will run towards the offensive player and close-out by chopping their feet. Once the defensive player has closed out, the offensive player will dribble towards the baseline for a jump shot. The defensive player will stay with the offensive player and challenge the jump shot.

Split all your players into two teams and have them line up on opposite sides of the court.2 basketballs are placed at mid-court.Each player is given a number (eg. 1-5).The coach will set out a basket that each team will shoot at.The coach will call out a number.When the number is called out, the corresponding number will run out to get the ball, dribble to the basket and keep shooting till the shot is made.Once the shot is made the players will run after the ball and dribble it back to the center circle.The first player to score and get the ball back to the center circle wins.

Seven players with two balls. One player is based at the circle of the free throw line (Player 2). Player 1 passes to player 2, player 1 who makes a cut and goes for a hand off pass. Player 1 passes to player 3 and goes to replace player 3. The same happens on the other side of the court using players 4, 2 and 5.

6 Players in a circle with 2 players in the middle of the circle. The outide players start jogging around the circle and throw the ball into the middle to one of the players they continue jogging around before the middle player throws the ball back to another player.Introduce another ball into the practice.

Cut out, cut in and then shoot...

Player 1 passes a long ball to player 2 and follows their pass, moving towards the sideline, before then cutting inside the court towards the cone to receive the return pass from player 2. Player 1 then drives to the basket and shoots or performs a lay-up. After this they collect their ball and play an outlet pass to player 2 who has run up the court in readiness for the pass.

Dribble Relay Dribbling Relay ...

Split the group into equal teams. Set the cones up as shown in the diagram. On the whistle players dribble around the cones, when they reach the end the dribble straight back to the end of the queue. The player then has to roll the ball through the legs of their team to the person at the front of the queue.

Set up as shown in diagram.If the player makes the shot, then they will go to the back of the line and the next player will shoot.If a player misses a shot, then they will go stand by the cone (this place is called the "hot seat")If the next player makes the shot, then the player on the "hot seat" is out.If the next player misses then the player on the "hot seat" goes to the back of the line and the player who missed takes their place on the "hot seat".The winner is the last person in the game.

Player 1 with the ball. Player 2 sets the screen at either side of the defender. When the screen is set player 1 fakes to the opposite side then crosses back to rub shoulders with the screener, before dribbling past and either taking a shot or a lay up.

Player one passes the ball so that it reaches player 2's hands as they run out. Once the first pass has been made player 1 runs down the wing looking to receive the return pass before cutting in court to enter the key and have a shot.

Creating off the dribble Shoot...

Start in the guard position 5 meters above the three-point line just off center at the top of the key. Spin back the ball as if receiving a pass from another guard. Meet the pass with a quick stop, drop step and drive through the elbow for the shot. Rebound the shot and dribble to the sideline, do a spin dribble and return to the key to execute the drill to the other side on the elbow.

Blue player 1 starts with the ball in their hand on the baseline on the left hand side of the key. They then roll the ball towards red player 1 and can pick it up once its gone past the free throw line.Red player 1 must run as soon as the ball is thrown to behind the backboard before having a 1 v 1. Roles are reversed once the game is over.

Two players with one ball. Player 1 passes to player 2 who goes diagonally to the first cone, touches it and returns to the starting point, before receiving a pass from Player 2. Player 2 does the same as Player 1. They then give another pass and go to the second cone before repeating process.

The rest of the group each have a ball and on the command they have to dribble from one end of the court to the other. The player under the basket starts with the ball and grabs a self rebound before outletting to the right wing. The player on the opposite wing, meanwhile, sprints to the other end of the floor on their wing.The right wing now passes long to hit the left wing in stride ready for an easy lay up. After passing, the right wing sprints to the cone opposite and runs to the original starting point.The player that started the drill will sprint to the opposite end of the floor as soon as they have passed it, ready to grab the ball out of the net to begin the drill again, with the left winger now being on the left wing at the other end of the court, collecting a pass and playing a long pass to the player that started at right wing.

Players are stood in each corner of the court with two players stood in the center circle. On the coach's signal players 1 and 2 start dribbling before passing to players 3 and 4 respectively who return the pass. Players 1 and 2 then dribble further before passing to players 5 and 6 and moving towards the elbow of the free throw line to receive the return pass from players 5 and 6. They then immediately pass to the players 7 and 8. Players 1 and 2 should now replace players 5 and 6.
