1-2-3 and rebound

Player 1 starts the move by passing the ball to player 2. Just as the first pass is being made player 3 runs diagonally in court in preparation to receive the ball from player 2. Player 2 passes the ball to player 3 who has a shot from the edge of the key. Meanwhile player 1 should have run up court and is positioned ready to receive the rebound if player 3's shot misses.

Shooting

2 on 2 Helpside Drill

white1 and white2 will pass ball to each other 3 or 4 times.blue1 and blue2 will adjust accordingly.red1 and red2 are continually getting open.white1 or white2 will pass to either red1 or red2. Now, it becomes a 2 on 2 game.reds vs blues until reds score or blues get the ball.Rotation = Offence to defence, defence to passers.

2v2 Deny Drill

Set up as shown in video clip. When the ball is on that players side of the court they will deny. When the ball is on the other side of the court, the players will come across and play help defence. Once the ball has been passed to one of those players then they will play 2v2.

2v2 Help Defence drill

Set players up as shown in video clip. The baseline offensive player will drive towards the basket. The help defender will come over and stop the drive. The player with the ball will pass to the other offensive player. The receiver of the pass will shoot the ball. The defensive player will sprint out and challenge the shot.

Chest Pass

Imagine that you have caught the ball out in front of you. You would then absorb the momentum of the ball by bringing in the ball to your chest, bending the knees. This also helps to protect the ball from defenders and gives you a stable platform.Bringing the ball up your chest in an upward arc, release the ball out level with your chest, arm outstretched.

Passing Technique

Defensive Position Drill

Set up as shown in video clip. Position 1- Close Out and guard the ball. Position 2- Deny the ball Position 3- Front the post Position 4- Help side defence Position 5- Sprint out deny the pass Position 6- Sprint to help side defence Position 7- Bump the cutter and play 1v1 from the top of the 3 point line.

Defense

Footwork - Quick Stop

Players are lined up on the baseline. The coach will be on the other side of the court. When the whistle is blown the players will start to jog. When the whistle is blown again the players will perform a quick stop to simulate them catching the ball in triple threat ready to shoot. This is continued to the other end of the court.

Footwork and Movement

One-two Pass and Shoot

Player one passes the ball so that it reaches player 2's hands as they run out. Once the first pass has been made player 1 runs down the wing looking to receive the return pass before cutting in court to enter the key and have a shot.

Single Finger Dribbling

Dribbling the ball using a single finger to improve finger strength, ball control and help prevent finger injury.

Dribbling Techniques

Upper Body shot technique

Players must shoot from a seated position. This will help players to focus on their upper body shooting technique.

Advanced Ball Handling

2v2 Help Defence drill Defense...

Set players up as shown in video clip. The baseline offensive player will drive towards the basket. The help defender will come over and stop the drive. The player with the ball will pass to the other offensive player. The receiver of the pass will shoot the ball. The defensive player will sprint out and challenge the shot.

Zig-Zag Defensive Slide Defens...

Have cones set up as shown in the image. Players will start at the 1st cone and defensive slide from cone to cone. Once the player gets their outside foot to the cone the player will push off of that foot and change direction.

1v1 Zig-Zag to Jump Shot Defen...

1 offensive player and 1 defensive player. The offensive player will dribble through the cones, once the player has reached the last cone the player will dribble towards the basket and shoot a jump shot.

Move, Receive then Pass Passin...

In pairs one player starts with a ball, with their partner starts opposite them. The player with the ball throws the ball to the cone on either the right or left. The receiving player moves to catch the ball before throwing the ball back to the passer.

Run and meet the ball Shooting...

Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards, this is the purpose of this drill. Player 1 passes to player 2 and sprints inside the key before changing direction and running back out to the free throw line to receive the pass back from player 2. Player 1 executes a jump shot, gathers the ball and then passes to player 2 who starts the drill off again by passing the next queuing player.

4 on 2 Grid Passing Drill Game...

Players play a 4 on 2 passing game within the grid area.When defending wins the ball 2 whites move out of the area and another two move into play a 4 v 2 again.

Charge Drill Defense - Basketb...

Players and equipment will be set up as shown in video clip. When the coach shouts start, the defensive player will begin fast feet on the spot. When the coach next calls go, the defensive player will slide to the cone on one side, then back to the other cone until they get to their original position. Once back to the original position, the other player/coach with a pad will run into the defenders chest where they will take a charge.

Get Open Drill Footwork and Mo...

This is a pass and run to the back of the opposite line drill, with a v-cut movement before the pass. Player 1 starts in the triple threat position whilst 2 makes a v cut. Player 1 then passes the ball to player 2. Player 2 fakes a pass to player 1 who now cuts towards the basket. Player 3 (stood behind player 1) now v-cuts to the front of their line. Player 2 passes the ball to player 3. Player 4 (stood behind player 2) makes a v-cut to the front of their line. Player 3 passes the ball to player 4.

3 ON 1 AND 3 ON 1 Passing - Ba...

Red 1 shoots a free throw. Players O1, O2 and O3 rebound the ball, fill the lanes. Red 1 plays defence. 2 cones at the halfway line. The wing players must go around the cones. After finishing fast break the shooter becomes defender and 3 players goes against 1 to the opposite basket.

Zig-Zag Defence to Jump Shot S...

Players and cones will be set up as shown in video clip. One offensive and one defensive player. The offence will dribble through the cones with the defence sliding keeping their head in line with the ball. Once they have gone through all the cones, the defensive player will retreat. The offensive player will dribble to 15 foot away from the basket and shoot the ball. The defensive player will contest the shot and then box out to get the rebound.

Shoot under pressure Shooting ...

Player 1 passes the ball inside the key to player 2 and follows their pass. Before they enter they key player 1 cuts out to receive the return pass from player 2. At this point player 1 should dribble towards the basket with the intention of scoring. However, as soon as player 2 passes the ball they are allowed to close down and put pressure on player 1. Once Player 1 has taken their shot player 2 should collect the ball and drive out of the area before joining the back of the attacking queue. Player 1 joins the back of the defending queue.

Set up as shown in the image. Players will run to the first diagonal cone and close-out by chopping their feet.<br /><br /> They will then sprint to the cone at the half way line.<br /><br /> Once they get there, they will slide across the half way line to the other side of the court.<br /><br /> To finish they will back pedal to the baseline.

3 Players with one ball. Player 1 passes to Player 3 who runs into space. Players are continue passing to each other and then running into open space.

3 Point Shooting Training at H...

It is pretty difficult being a 3 point specialist if you are not shooting with the correct form and technique plus the fact that the further the shot is taken away from the edge of the basket the further to retrieve it and the longer between shot taken and the longer it takes to become a good shooter unless you have a spare six hours.

One-two Pass and Shoot Shootin...

Player one passes the ball so that it reaches player 2's hands as they run out. Once the first pass has been made player 1 runs down the wing looking to receive the return pass before cutting in court to enter the key and have a shot.

Hold the ball out in front of you in 2 hands. Throw the ball between your legs and catch it behind you in 2 hands. Torso and legs should remain still.

V Cut drill - 3 Players Passin...

Player 1 passes to player 2, player 1 then runs around the cone in the middle and out to the space. Player 2 passes to player 3 before running to the middle cone and into the space. The practice should then continue passing and cutting into the space.

Players work with a ball each and pass the ball against the wall so that the wall bounce passes the ball back to you. Repeat.
