2 on 2 Rebound Drill Rebound -...

Coach has the ball.<br />Players are moving as if in a game.<br />Coach will toss ball on backboard.<br />Defensive players must box out and rebound.<br />Offensive players try to rebound and score.

Zig-Zag Defence with Offence D...

The players will pair up with one offensive player and one defensive player. The offensive player will dribble from cone to cone. The defensive player will keep their head in line with the ball using a defensive slide. Once they come to the end of the cones the players will go back to the start and the offence and defence will switch over.

Defending and offensive dribbl...

Simulate defense on an imaginary offensive player who is playing the wing position. Start our imaginary defensive position on the block playing off then toward the ball that is at the point position leading to the top of the key.

Set play - Triangle Defense - ...

Start with 5 players on court as attackers.Ball starts on half way. 3 players at top creating a triangle, 2 players under hoop.Player with the ball passes to the 'strong side' and stack. Ball is passed around. Any player can put a shot up as long as the triangle is maintained. Players still hold triangle formation around the key - this gives options on offence.

1 on 1 Dive Drill 1 v 1 - Bask...

2 lines on the baseline, with the coach in the middle. The coach will roll the ball down the middle of the court. Both players will run and dive on the ball. The player that gets the ball is on offence and the other player on defence. They will attack the basket from the side they came from. First player to score wins.

4 on 4 Rotate Box-Out Drill Re...

Four players on each team. The offence will set up around the outside of the 3 point line. The defence will be set out around the key. When the coach yells rotate, the defensive team rotates around to the next position. When the coach shoots the ball, the defensive players will box out the offensive players attacking for the rebound. If the offensive team gets a rebound they play live trying to score. If it is a defensive rebound then the teams will switch over.

Roll off the key to the baseline and push back in from the baseline to gain inside position for offensive rebounding. Repeat 10 times on both sides of the board.

Within half court only, offensive team must try to make 15 consecutive passes. The defensive team must try to intercept or deflect the passes.<br /><br />No dribbling.

1 v 1 Advantage Games - Basket...

A line of players will start in the corner. There will be a cone in front of the players about 25 ft away. There will also be a cone along the baseline that the defensive player will run around. The player at the front of the line will have a basketball. The coach will nominate 1 person to start on defence. When the coach yells GO both players will take off to get around their cones. Once they are around the cones they are playing 1 v 1.

Player starts the move by shooting - aiming to hit the rim to create the rebound for the other two players.When the shot goes up the defensive player will turn and box-out the offensive player attempting to get the rebound.

One-Two Pass - Take your man o...

Players Blue 1 and Red 1 have a ball each and they are starting from the right hand corners either end of the court. Green players 1 & 2 stand on the elbow of the free throw line.Red player 1 and Blue player 1 start dribbling when they get level with the 3 point line they must do a long pass to the green players before running to receive the ball back. They then play 1 v 1, with the rules being only 3 dribbles and 1 shot.

Players and cones will be set up as shown in video clip. One offensive and one defensive player. The offence will dribble through the cones with the defence sliding keeping their head in line with the ball. Once they have gone through all the cones, the defensive player will retreat. The offensive player will dribble to 15 foot away from the basket and shoot the ball. The defensive player will contest the shot and then box out to get the rebound.

Play 4 versus 4 at one basket with the following rules: No Dribbling Pass and screen or pass and cut Make it - take it First team to 7 wins

Lead Pass Passing - Basketball...

One player stands on each cone with a fifth player standing between two of the players, with the ball in hand. The player in front of the player in possession should set off on a lead run and receive the pass from the fifth player. After running onto the pass the next player in the square should make a lead run, looking to receive the next pass. After passing players should continue to run until they reach the unoccupied cone.

3 v 3 Games - Basketball Drill...

Split the class into groups of 6. With 3 defenders and 3 attackers. One team starts with the ball and is attacking the basket, with the other team defending. If the defenders get the ball then the roles are reversed.

Close-out baseline drive Shoot...

The defensive player will pass the ball to the offensive player. The defensive player will run towards the offensive player and close-out by chopping their feet. Once the defensive player has closed out, the offensive player will dribble towards the baseline for a jump shot. The defensive player will stay with the offensive player and challenge the jump shot.

Set up two lines, one for the for the defending players (red) and the other for the attacking players (blue) who have one ball.When the coach blows their whistle both players run around their respective cones (shown in diagram).After the blue player has made their way around the cone another player in the offensive players' line passes the ball to them.After they've run round the cones players play out the 1 vs 1.

Ghost play at the end of a ses...

Finish every session with ghost play. The best place to do this is a side court in a sports hall where you have a wall or access to a throw bag. If there are no walls or sports bags then use a spin back. Imagine being in a game situation making passes, moving off picks, posting up and rebounding. Make all the plays imaginable. Always be an offensive player doing all the scoring and controlling the game completely. Pass off the walls, rebound off the wall and through outlet passes, bring the ball up to court and even take foul shots. Do all the things you would do in a real game. Cutting off pick to catch and shoot. Keep the score close playing to 20. If one team gets to close tip in some miss shots to bring the game back close. Have the game ties at 18-18, count down from 10 seconds or tip in the miss to win.

1 offensive player and 1 defensive player.The ball will be thrown up at the basket.The defensive player must go make contact(box out) the offensive player and get the rebound.Once the defensive player has the rebound, they pass back out to the shooter.The drill rotation is offence to defence, the defence goes off to the back of the line.

Set players up as shown in video clip. The baseline offensive player will drive towards the basket. The help defender will come over and stop the drive. The player with the ball will pass to the other offensive player. The receiver of the pass will shoot the ball. The defensive player will sprint out and challenge the shot.
