Around and on Goal!

Blue players must dribble up the pitch and around the cone before then turning sharply. Once they have turned they must then take on the defender with a feint or a dummy before finally throwing a shot at the goal.

Cone Ball: Free for all

All players have a cone they must protect within a half court area. As a team players must dribble, pass and shoot to try and eliminate all of the opposition's cones. The winning team is the first side to hit all of the other team's cones.

Cross over and score

Setup as shown, with the player on the far right passing to the player in the middle. The player then crosses with the player on the left who takes a shot at goal. After catching the ball B2 feints as if to go to the right, but changes to the left to cross with B3. B3 first feinst to start to te left, but quickly sprints to the left to cross with B2, catch the ball and throw at the goal. Players swap positions after throwing.

Cross-Court Pass and Shoot

Starting on the right backcourt player passes from right to left. When the third player receives the ball on the left wing they should feint (either to go out or to go in) before then running towards the defender and shooting on goal. Defender only blocks (do not come forward) Once they've shot on goal each player rotates to the next position.

One-two, Pass and Pivot

Blue 2 start this practice with a pass out wide to the player on the wing (blue 1). Player 2 then runs forward, looking for the return pass. At this time blue 3 (your pivot player) should prepare to make their move away from the defender. Player 2 receives the ball and then then passes to player 3 who then makes space and shoots on goal.

Quick Switch - Simple Screen

Three groups of players - a group on each wing and a line of three players a couple of meters behind the free-throw line. The play starts from the right wing with player 1 passing the first of the outfield players (player 2). Player 2 moves forward to meet the pass and then plays the ball to their left for player 3 to meet and then across to player 4. During this passing process player 1 must chase the passes across the court - screening to protect the pass and prevent the imaginary defender from receivnig the ball. When player 4 receives the ball they should shoot on goal. The drill then starts from the other side - going from left to right.

Run around - 2 vs 1

This starts off as a 1 vs 1 as the attacking players dribble the ball out around the cone and then run towards goal to beat the defender. However, the attacking players are allowed to make use of the spare man to get past the defender or if they feel that the passing option is being blocked they can go it alone.

Shooting Rotations: Coming from the back court

Blue 1 starts the move by feeding the ball in from the wing to blue 2. Blue 2 then plays a 1-2 pass with blue 3 who runs onto the pass and shoots on goal. Defender may only try to block the shot : do not come forward!

Try to score - 3v2

Set up your players up in three equal lines. Only the player at the start of line 1 has a ball. Blue 1 starts the drill with a pass to blue 2 who runs onto the ball and tries to break past the two defenders. If they are unable to find space for the shot they must pass to player 3 who repeats the process. Drill continues in this way (blue1 - blue2 - blue3 - blue1...)until an opening for the shot has been created.

Players work in groups of three (blue players), passing and moving the ball to try and create space for a pass into the pivot (white player). Meanwhile the defender (red) is doing their best to mark the pivot and prevent the space opening up for a pass to the pivot player for a shot on goal!

4 vs 4 - Make the Space 526 ba...

4 attacking players against 4 defenders - with the attackers trying to score a goal. The attackers start on either wing and take it in turn to run forward and try to get past their opposite number. If they are unable to get past their marker the players should pass the ball across the line to a fellow attacker.

Players A start the drill with a feint shot left of the mat, then dribble with one or two bounces to the other side of the mat and pass to players B who are already in motion to the side of the feint shot. They perform the same movement and pass back to the next player A again.

2v2 - Mark the Space, not the ...

After being passed the ball by the feeder/coach the attackers (blue 2 and blue 3) try to pass their way past the defenders. In this drill the two attackers can attack anywhere, and can overlap and swap positions at will in order to try and get past the defenders. The defenders however must mark the space, not the players, and so must communicate between one another so that both players are always marked, while ensuring that they don't change places.

B is the feeder who throws the introduction pass 1 (either to A or to B).Player A runs towards wingplayer E and passes to E.E goes in between the cones (1st and 2nd defender) and passes to A, who retreated backwards and comes in again at full speed, receiving the pass from E and quickly passes the ball to the incoming C, who goes in between the cones (1st and 2nd defender) and passes to D, who throws at the goal.B now plays his first pass to C and the shot will finally come from player E.

Two player take up position on the wings, with two attackers stood further up court. The two attackers on the half way line (players 2 and 3) try to score a goal by moving up court and passing to one of the two wing players (1 or 4). The two defenders (grey 1 and 2) try to prevent the players progressing up court as well as the goal shot.

Player 1 dribbles around the cone and at the same time player 2 sprints around his cone. Player 1 deliberately dribbles towards defender 1, trying to draw them towards them, before passing to player 2 once the defender has committed to trying to mark him. Attacker 2 now throws at the goal.

Players go towards the goal in pairs. Player 1 starts with the ball and passes to player 2. After passing they then sprint to the edge of the shooting circle, looking to receive the return pass. Player 2 then runs on, looking to draw the defender towards them. Once the defender has been drawn away from player 1 they then play the pass giving player 1 the chance to shoot unopposed on goal.

Two equal teams play inside a half court area. The aim of this game is to see which team can play the most passes in a 30 second period! The blue team go first and keep count of how many successful passes they complete. If the other team intercept/tackle the player in possession they must put the ball on the floor for the other team to pick up and continue playing. After 30 seconds swap teams and repeat.

Players stand in four lines along the half way line. A player on both side starts with the ball in hand. The attackers play give-and-go as they progress up the court and pass around the defender. The move finished with attacker 1 (the player who started with the ball) throwing at the goal.

Players line up on the sideline with a ball each and take it in turns to run across the court. As they approach each cone players should pass to static players making a sharp move <span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline;&quot;>towards the static players, feinting movement in that direction, before cutting back out to receive the pass in space. Players all perform three cuts before they reach the other side of the court - where they then dribble with the ball around the area to the back of the line.

Blue player 1 is the feeder in this drill and throws the ball to the players attempting to penetrate the defence. Blue players 2, on both sides of the court, take it in turns to run towards the defenders and try to find a gap through which they can run and make a shot on goal. If the attacker is shut out by the two defenders they can throw a one-two pass to blue player 3 and move into space to have one more attempt at breaking through.

The ball starts in the middle with player 1 who plays a one-two pass with player 2 to their right. When this pass is being played player 3 should time their run so that as player receive the ball they are running just behind them - ready to catch the quick pass. Player 3 then runs with the ball and sets player 2 up for the shot on goal.

The wide attacker plays a one-two pass with the central attacking player. After this they then run forward and try to get past the left back. If they're unable to get past on their own they should wait for the support run from the central player who should aim to run between the defenders and play a jump shot on goal.
